Export & Import Your Data

ThreadTrak stores all data locally. Here's how to back up and transfer your data.

What Gets Exported

  • Queue items (with notes)
  • Bookmarked threads
  • Reply Library templates
  • Snippets
  • Favorite users list
  • Muted users list
  • Tags and notes on replies
  • Settings and preferences

How to Export

  1. Open the ThreadTrak sidebar
  2. Go to Settings (gear icon)
  3. Scroll to "Data & Backup"
  4. Click "Export All Data"
  5. A JSON file downloads to your computer

File name format: threadtrak-backup-YYYY-MM-DD.json

How to Import

  1. Open ThreadTrak sidebar
  2. Go to Settings → Data & Backup
  3. Click "Import Data"
  4. Select your backup JSON file
  5. Choose import mode:
    • Merge: Combine with existing data
    • Replace: Overwrite existing data
  6. Confirm the import

When to Export

We recommend exporting:

  • Before uninstalling the extension
  • Before switching computers
  • Weekly (if you use ThreadTrak heavily)
  • Before major Chrome updates

Transferring to a New Computer

  1. Export on old computer
  2. Email the JSON file to yourself (or use cloud storage)
  3. Install ThreadTrak on new computer
  4. Import the JSON file
  5. Activate your license key
Note: Your license key works on multiple devices.
