Star vs Flag

Favorites (Star)

Mark users as VIPs. Their replies show a filled amber star across all threads.

Always visually highlighted

Use "Show Favorites Only" filter

Muted (Flag)

Silence trolls and spammers. Flagged users are hidden when filter is enabled.

"Hide Muted Users" is ON by default

Mutual Exclusivity

Favorites and Muted are mutually exclusive:

Star a muted user → they are automatically unmuted first
Flag a favorited user → they are automatically unfavorited first

Filter Priority Order

hideMutedUsers — If ON and user is muted → HIDE

How to Use

Starring a User

Find their reply in Tree View
Click the Star icon
Star fills with amber color
Their replies show filled star in ALL threads
Use "Show Favorites Only" to focus on VIPs

Muting a User

Find their reply in Tree View
Click the Flag icon
Flag fills with red color
"Hide Muted Users" is ON by default
They remain muted until you unflag them

Data Storage

Your Favorites and Muted lists are stored locally in your browser.

Per-Account: Lists are scoped to each X account
Local Storage: Stored in browser's chrome.storage.sync
Persistent: Survives browser restarts and extension updates
Cross-Tab Sync: Changes sync across tabs automatically

Troubleshooting

Star/Flag Not Persisting

Browser data cleared, or storage quota exceeded.

Fix: Don't clear x.com from browsing data. Export regularly as backup. Re-import if data is lost.

Can't Find Muted Users

Users Tab exists but might be overlooked.

Fix: Open sidebar → Click home icon → Find Users tab → Click Muted sub-tab.

Muted User Still Appearing

"Hide Muted Users" filter is OFF.

Fix: Open Filters panel → Ensure "Hide Muted Users" toggle is ON.

Starred User Not Highlighted in Other Thread

Different handle format or storage issue.

Fix: Handles are normalized automatically. Try removing and re-adding the user. Check Users Tab to verify.

Lists Different on Another Computer

Lists are stored locally per browser/device.

Fix: Use Export/Import feature. Export from primary device, import on secondary.

User Card Shows "--" for Stats

This is a "Coming Soon" feature, not yet implemented.

Expected: User analytics features are planned for future release.
